Questions and Answers.
Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions.
Health
drd family doctors are available to clarify all medical questions. If you suspect that you are infected, it is better to dial 1450 directly. There you will be connected to a corresponding tape. General practitioners on drd cannot give you rapid tests and only refer you to 1450. In case of emergency, they will request a rapid test and a doctor will come to your home.
On drd, selected general practitioners are exclusively available to you as doctors of choice. After your call, you will be connected to the nearest available GP. Please note that elective doctors can only issue private prescriptions. Conversion into a prescription covered by your public health care provider in pharmacies cannot be guaranteed. You must also submit any sick leave certificates you receive to your statutory health insurance company and have them approved.
The general practitioners on drd doctors online have been recommended as private doctors by other doctors. drd provides training for general practitioners to facilitate the conditions for good care via the drd platform.
You conclude a treatment contract directly with the GP handling your case. drd GmbH has developed the web platform and app that you can use to obtain medical advice and manage your patient information and documentation in encrypted form and also make them visible to the doctor.
To use the app, to use encrypted communication with general practitioners and to manage your medical documents, you accept the terms and conditions of drd GmbH and the terms and conditions of all doctors that you can reach via drd, both of which you can find here. Read the terms and conditions carefully. By registering in the drd app you agree to be bound by these conditions.
All general practitioners that you can reach via drd are elective doctors who are licensed general practitioners in Austria. All general practitioners are also resident in Austria.
Some of the drd family doctors also have a GP practice where you can of course make an appointment. This is also possible online in consultation with the drd family doctors and makes sense if a clear diagnosis cannot be made via telemedicine and a personal examination is required for further clarification.
It is quite possible that you will be referred to the same family doctor several times. However, you are not entitled to this and will always be connected to the next available family doctor in order to be treated as effectively and promptly as possible.
In order to make the service available to as many people as possible, medical consultations are currently limited to 15 minutes. Please remember that other people also need medical advice.
The family doctors can issue private prescriptions and referrals. Since the general practitioners work as elective doctors through drd, please note that the redemption of prescriptions is generally intended as a private prescription and not as a prescription covered by your public health insurance. Conversion into a prescription covered by your public health care provider in the pharmacy cannot be guaranteed.
Many areas that can be treated during a visit to the family doctor can generally be clarified by telemedicine through medical history, questioning and reference to previous findings.
In the case of urgent, life-threatening illnesses, however, it is important to contact the emergency services immediately. You can reach the ambulance service at 144. drd should not be used for medical help in an emergency.

Privacy
Your drd health record is private, encrypted and can only be viewed on drd by you and - subject to your approval - the attending physician. Your data is encrypted on your smart phone and at the provider Hetzner GmbH in Germany. The consultation with drd general practitioners is also encrypted and only visible to you and the attending physician. For this purpose, you have a private key that is only stored on exactly one device. The attending physician also has his/her own key so that s/he can communicate with you securely. However, he will only have access to your data in your health record if you allow it. If you want to open drd on another device with your account, you need your key. Please save this key as a PDF in a safe place. It is your only access to your health record on drd if you change or lose your device. Drd also has no way of viewing the encrypted data, even if you should wish to restore it, this is only possible with your personal key. Privacy is our top priority. Here you will also find drd's data protection declaration.
You can delete your account and the associated data yourself in the drd app at any time. To do this, go to your account settings (start screen, green button at the top right) and then to “Delete account”. Medical documents that have already been issued for you will not be deleted, as every doctor is obliged to document medical consultations and to archive them for 10 years. However, these can only be viewed by the respective attending physician.
