Who we are
drd doctors online was founded in 2017 by lawyer and former investment banker Dr. Clemens Billek and Karin Krömer, formerly an anesthesia nurse in the shock room of the Vienna General Hospital (AKH). Their vision was to bring together a doctor search platform and telemedicine service.
Personal strokes of fate made Clemens Billek and Karin Krömer aware of the importance of immediate and uncomplicated access to doctors and the right choice of doctor for the course of treatment - not only in the case of serious illness and accidents. Please note that drd doctors online relies on the recommendations of doctors.
As a start-up with a young, dynamic team, drd doctors online has set itself the goal of digitizing and simplifying access to a doctor. To this end, drd.at is initially offering the following functions in an iOS, Android and web app for users:
- Chance to have a a telemedical consultation with a general practitioner via an encrypted video consultation
- Simple, secure and user-friendly patient file for all medical documents on your smart phone
- Search function for all specialists registered in Austria.
drd doctors online creates the first point of contact for patients with medical questions and offers the chance to get immediate assistance. With the patient file, patients can manage all of their medical documents on their smart phones.
The telecommunications provider Drei and the insurance company Generali are strategic partners for the launch of drd doctors online.
Due to the corona virus, the launch of drd.at originally planned for summer 2020 was brought forward. drd doctors online has been online since April 2, 2020 and is available to customers throughout Austria.

Charitable commitment
drd doctors online takes it social responsibility seriously. 10% of the annual company profit is donated to medicine-related charities to help give telemedicine advice to people in developing countries. Transparency is important to us. Our activities are published and explained on the drd doctors online website at the end of each financial year.

All general practitioners on drd doctors online have been recommended by other doctors and undergo training in order to be able to give telemedicine advice.
drd doctors online has a decentralized structure - doctors can work from home (even under quarantine or if there is a greater risk of catching COVID 19).
Quality assurance feedback from patients is provided immediately after each consultation.
With the certification by our partner Swisscom Trust Services, we introduced the qualified electronic signature at drd doctors online and thus enable a secure, smooth process of our services, e.g. when issuing instant prescriptions.
